Romeo, Michigan, August 9, 2019 –L&L Products continues to live out one of its corporate values: to be a „Good Citizen in Our Community,“ as it kicks off its second-year volunteering for Life Remodeled, a Detroit non-profit that helps to rebuild one Detroit neighborhood. Life Remodeled invests approximately $5 million in cash, labor, and materials into the city each year.
Throughout this week (August 5-9, 2019), L&L Products sent over 60 employees, including its North America President, Tom Kleino, who volunteered their time to help bring this year’s vision to reality.
According to the recent Crain’s Detroit Business article:
„The non-profit has secured lease commitments from three new organizations for the repurposed former Detroit Public Schools Community District school building it’s converted into a community center, with public use of gym and auditorium spaces and services to help lift people in the neighborhood out of poverty.
Those leases will bring it to 27 business, government and non-profit service provider tenants in the Durfee Innovation Society center, and depending on final agreements, could bring occupancy up to 89 percent, founder and CEO Chris Lambert said. He’s looking to bring the 143,000-square-foot center to full occupancy by year’s end.“
The L&L volunteers will focus on clearing the blighted alleyways within four square miles of the New Center district.
According to the Crain’s article, services at the center will include: job mentoring, training and/or placement in areas like coding, marketing, retail, construction and the electrician field, basic social services, behavioral health, business support, literacy programs, foster care and adoption services, senior services and violence prevention programs.
In addition to sending over 60 employees down to Detroit, L&L Products was also one of many corporate supporters that donated monetary grants to the organization.
