L&L Products announces the launch of its CCubed™ technology. CCubed™, the innovative polyester (PET) fiber-based performance cushioning material, is engineered to optimize wearer comfort through novel sweat management.
CCubed™ material has a breathable 3D structure that provides cushioning, allows heat to escape, wicks sweat away from the skin, and helps create an evaporative cooling effect. This material elevates overall wearer comfort while maintaining cushioning performance.
“Time and again, we hear from customers the need for a cushioning material that enables circularity in their products,” said Greg Thompson, Global Technology Leader at L&L Products. Circularity deals with reducing waste, recycling, and reuse of materials. “Our revolutionary CCubed™ technology enables a circular solution without compromising performance. It elevates wearer comfort in terms of sweat management and air flow.”
CCubed™ outperforms traditional polyurethane foam in moisture management and breathability while maintaining resiliency. It is based on PET technology, which can typically be more easily recycled or repurposed than ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) and urethane (PU) foams. Plus, unlike polyurethane foams, CCubed™ contains no toxic isocyanates.
“In a fibrous structure, moisture or sweat follows the fiber path,” said Varun Mohan, Senior Product Development Engineer at L&L Products. “When next to the skin, the combination of our uniquely oriented structure and performance fibers wicks moisture away from the skin and helps dissipate body heat, elevating overall wearer comfort where current cushioning materials fall short.”
CCubed™ technology will be featured in two new 2024 backpack designs from NEMO Equipment, manufacturer of outdoor gear and accessories built to improve the adventure experience. The CCubed™ technology elevates the performance of the NEMO Equipment backpacks by providing sweat management in the back panels, shoulder straps, and hip belts.
"With this product release, we are well positioned to support European demand with our OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 labelled material that will be manufactured in the Czech Republic," says Mike Nieder, European Diversification Sales Leader (CCubed™ material, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, Certificate CQ1313/1 IFTH, www.oeko-tex.com).
The CCubed™ technology was introduced to the market at The Materials Show events in August 2022 and March 2023 in Portland, Oregon and Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
