L&L Products announces the launch of its proprietary PHASTER™ line of adhesives, sealants, reinforcements, and repair materials. These unique foaming and non-foaming two-component ambient temperature curing solutions were developed for excellent adhesion performance and processing ease, in various indoor and outdoor application conditions.
PHASTER™ products are built on L&L’s patented polyhydroxy ether phosphate ester (PEPE) backbone, providing a number of common benefits. PHASTER™ exhibits excellent primer- and pretreatment-free adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, including metals, wood, polymers, cementitious materials, and more. PHASTER™ materials can be foamed to bond, seal, and reinforce variable gaps, irregular surfaces, and cavities. Compared to traditional polyurethane and epoxy systems, PHASTER™ is easy to process in various environmental conditions with low sensitivity to temperature, mix ratio differences, and surface contamination, allowing for convenient field repair with no special surface preparation in most cases. For safe handling, PHASTER™ is free of isocyanates and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with no sharp, pungent odors, and is inherently flame resistant.
“PHASTER™ has a combination of desirable properties that solve a variety of problems, said Hamid Mortazavian, Senior Scientist at L&L Products North America. “We believe there is nothing that is commercially available that compares to PHASTER™ and we’re eager to have users experience it for themselves.”
As part of the launch, L&L Products introduces its first two PHASTER commercial products:
- PHASTER™ A-K700 is a two-component rapid cure adhesive designed to provide excellent adhesion and superior peel strength to a variety of metal, ceramic, cementitious, and polymeric substrates, typically without the need for surface abrasion or primers. The product features no pungent odors and contains renewable bio-content.
- PHASTER™ A-K607 is a two-component rigid foaming adhesive that is well suited for structural gap filling. The compressive strength of PHASTER™ A-K607, combined with its adhesion and volumetric expansion, enables structural repairs and reinforcement, providing value over other foam-in-place technologies. Once cured in place, PHASTER™ A-K607 is machinable, paintable and sandable, and can be tapped with screws without cracking or breaking. PHASTER™ A-K607 expands with low pressure, avoiding distortion issues that are caused by high pressure expanding materials, and is horizontal-burn (HB) classified.
“We’ve been working on the development of PHASTER™ for some time now, and I couldn’t be happier to release it to the market,” said Blake Synnestvedt, Business Development Director at L&L Products North America. “PHASTER™ is a unique technology added to the already unique suite of solutions L&L has to offer. The mechanical properties are much higher than similar foams from competitors. Having outstanding mechanical properties at lower densities can improve and enhance safety and fuel efficiency across industries.
Along with other L&L Products solutions, PHASTER™ A-K700 and A-K607 will be on display in September at the L&L Products booth at CAMX, the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo.
